MTB tour to the Hirzerhütte & Streitweideralm
The route leads high above the enchanting Passeiertal Valley, starting in Verdins and continuing to Untertall, then to Prenn. From here, a picturesque ascent to the Gompm Alm and on to the Hirzer hut awaits you. A short trial leads to the Hirzerbahn mountain station, followed by a fascinating panoramic ride to the Staffelhütte. About 1.5 kilometres below the Staffelhütte, a trial leads to Videgg - partly rideable, partly as a push track. This tour offers a marvellous landscape with breathtaking views of the Merano region, the Venosta Valley and the imposing Texel Group!
You start in the charming village of Verdins, always straight ahead on the main road. At kilometre 3.6 and an altitude of 924 metres, simply continue straight ahead in a right-hand bend, follow the "Untertall" sign and immerse yourself deeper into the enchanting landscape.
Reach a farm at kilometre 6.4 and an altitude of 1015 metres and take the left-hand path through the farm, which leads you to "Obertall-Prenn" to continue along a picturesque cart track. At kilometre 8.0 and an altitude of 1130 metres, continue straight ahead at a detached house in the direction of "Prenn".
At kilometre 8.4 and an altitude of 1181 metres, pass two farms and continue uphill on asphalt. At kilometre 9.1 and an altitude of 1238 metres, turn right onto asphalt as the majestic peaks come into view.
At kilometre 10.9 and an altitude of 1406 metres, enjoy a right-hand bend just before Prenn and then turn left towards "Gompm Alm-Hirzerhütte". At kilometre 12.1 and an altitude of 1528 metres, you pass the Hochwies inn and continue your journey on gravel.
At kilometre 14.6 and an altitude of 1752 metres, turn right (there is a dead end on the left). At kilometre 15.2 and an altitude of 1808 metres, you pass the Gompm Alm and after 70 metres turn left uphill to the Hirzerhütte.
At kilometre 16.9 and an altitude of 1980 metres, turn left and reach the Hirzerhütte. From here, return to the junction and follow a narrow footpath downhill towards Klammeben (Hirzerbahn mountain station) - a short pushing section awaits you. At kilometre 17.6 and an altitude of 1980 metres, you reach the Klammeben mountain station. Shortly before this, turn left onto trail no. 40 in the direction of "Staffelhütte". After 18.8 kilometres and an altitude of 1940 metres, turn right immediately after the Staffelhütte and head steeply downhill.
At kilometre 19.4 and an altitude of 1832 metres, turn left through a fence on a narrow forest path - partly passable, partly as a push track - downhill to "Videgg". When you reach Videgg at kilometre 21.1 and an altitude of 1560 metres, turn left at the Haas Hof (Buschenschank) and after 110 metres turn right downhill towards "Streitwalderalm". At kilometre 23.2 and an altitude of 1560 metres, turn left onto the concrete road and ride steeply uphill to the Streitweideralm.
At kilometre 23.9 and an altitude of 1560 metres, you reach the Streitweideralm. After 700 metres, return to the junction and turn left downhill to Scena/Schenna. After 28.3 kilometres and an altitude of 1061 metres, turn right downhill on asphalt. At kilometre 29.0 and an altitude of 972 metres, turn left at the Hasenegg inn.
After 32.9 kilometres and an altitude of 621 metres, turn right downhill into the centre of Schenna. After 150 metres, turn right again onto the village road and continue slightly uphill. At kilometre 33.8 and an altitude of 648 metres, turn left just before the Hotel Ifinger to reach a car park at kilometre 33.9 and an altitude of 860 metres.
